Writer and Photographer Guidelines
covers home fitness for the growing number of men and women who realize the benefits of incorporating a gym into their own personal surroundings. Our goal is to educate readers on all their fitness options and to show that exercising from home is an excellent long-term investment in their health.
Home Gym Magazine looks for unique stories to keep readers engaged and inspired to make the most out of exercising at home. The tone of the stories is inviting yet informative. The magazine encourages exercise novices and serves as an informative tool for the fitness enthusiast.
We are open to a variety of article topics, but these guidelines can assist you in developing submission ideas:
Article style
- Feature stories – length 750 to 1,500 words
- Reviews – 500 to 750 words
- Out-of-the-box workouts – 750 to 1,000 words
- Profiles – 750 to 1,000 words;
- Sports specific workouts – 500 to 750 words
Additional information:
Home Gym Magazine includes overviews of home gym equipment such as treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes and strength equipment. We also track new fitness modalities, trends in the industry, sport specific training, new gadgets and technology, training techniques and motivational advice.
Home Gym Magazine encourages features of high profile personal trainers, celebrity workouts and pro athletes. There is an emphasis on practical “how to” stories on setting up your own home gym, from an “over-the-top home fitness oasis” to a “space saver gym.”

Advice articles on training and motivation should be written by experts or from interviews with experts and research. Information on the expert should be cited along with the article in a brief bio of the person’s background and expertise in the specific topic.
Writers associated with products, companies or organizations should not submit articles about products with which they are affiliated. However, persons with a specific expertise are encouraged to write articles that include their area of expertise as long as the affiliation is established up front and the article is nonpromotional. A brief bio of the person and his or her affiliation will be included with the article.
Payment
- $150 to $450 for Home Gym Magazine's main features. Payment will depend on article content as well as professional expertise.
- $75 to $150 for departmental stories, such as web site reviews, book reviews, DVD reviews, out of the box workouts, in a tight space stories, sport specific training
Payment will be made upon publication.
Photography
Home Gym Magazine uses original, stock and industry-provided product photos.
$100 to $400 for accompanying photographs, depending on quality and use. Cover photographs may be $500 to $750. For image considerations, please e-mail a low-res image to: lflora@homegymmag.com
However, high-resolution photos (300 dpi or higher) are required for the final use.

Please use Associated Press style for submissions. Articles should be sent by e-mail as a Microsoft Word e-mail attachment, preferably using Rich Text Format. Response to e-mails typically requires two to six weeks, depending on the magazine cycle.
Home Gym Magazine is a quarterly publication so queries should be focused one to two issues ahead. We publish spring, summer, fall and holiday issues. |
